Tura, May 31: Three daily wage labourers and a CRPF officer were injured when suspected militants lobbed a grenade at Sarangma weighbridge in Meghalaya's North Garo Hills today.
"The incident took place around 3.15am at Sarangma village on National Highway 62, about 30km from Resubelpara," North Garo Hills superintendent of police Ramesh Singh said.
Singh said suspected A'chik Matgrik Elite Force militants came to the transport weighbridge and lobbed a grenade outside the room on the bridge and open fired from a nearby school.
The injured labourers have been identified as Timrik Sangma, Kilapson Marak and Landrik Sangma.#The CRPF officer was identified as assistant sub-inspector Santosh Lal.
The labourers and CRPF personnel were posted in the transport office at Sarangma village. "The CRPF personnel retaliated but the militants escaped, taking advantage of the darkness," Singh said.
