Dibrugarh/Guwahati, Aug. 31: The Opposition Congress today came down heavily upon the Sarbananda Sonowal government and questioned its achievements in the last 100 days of governance.

Assam PCC president Ripun Bora pointed out in Dibrugarh the alleged failures of the BJP-led state government such as increase in VAT, skyrocketing prices of essentials, lack of adequate relief to the flood-hit, deteriorating law and order and poor condition of the national highways because of lack of maintenance.

"Assam has not received a single paise from the Centre for flood relief. No central team has come to assess the flood damage. In short, the state government has failed on all fronts," Bora said. Taking a dig at the government, former chief minister Tarun Gogoi said, "The Sonowal government is bringing poribartan (change) - price rise."

Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Debabrata Saikia said the government has not worked substantially on 19 issues, including its inability to get special state status, resolving the big dam issue, checking erosion, setting up an AIIMS, NRC update, checking influx, completing the erstwhile government's developmental plans and projects and checking rhino poaching. "After the new government took charge, there has been an environment of religious tension in the state. Moreover, they have decided to auction the oil fields of Assam and are now converting state-run schools into CBSE," he said.
