Shillong/Guwahati, March 29: The Northeast has always been a favourite destination of world-class singers and bands, but every show has come at a price. But for the first time, a US band will perform live in shows without tickets in three state capitals of the region next week.
The band — Difference United — will be performing in Shillong, Aizawl and Guwahati. The tour starts on April 1 with a gig at Police Bazar in Shillong.
The performances will feature songs from the band’s latest album, Dream Again, as well as other hit numbers. All the performances will be open-air gigs — Police Bazar junction in Shillong on April 1 and 2, Assam Rifles Ground in Aizawl on April 2 and Chandmari Field in Guwahati on April 6 and 7.
A member of the Center Point Entertainment Group, which is hosting the band in Shillong, said “the group will belt out some of its unique European pop and American rock fusion music”.
Aaron Miller, who is the composer and keyboard player in the band, said during a visit to the city last week that “the band members are very excited to come to northeastern India as part of the group’s Dream Again tour”.
He said the group is currently on a world tour to popularise its latest album. “It’s a great feeling to be able to come to northeast India, in our first visit, to perform. We are sure people will love our music”.
Miller has been in Shillong and Guwahati for a week to organise the band’s tour and also arrange the musical back-ups that would be needed during its performance in the Northeast.
All the shows in the region are free concerts, Miller added. According to the organisers, “the fusion of European pop and American rock and the powerful voice of the groups lead vocalist, Sara Pecchia, combines to a rare musical experience”.
A few of the popular hits from Dream Again include Raindrops, A Little More Time, Destiny and Love Is A Place.
The hit single Raindrops has gained international radio airplay in Europe and Asia.
