Bongaigaon: All Bodo Student Union's founder president Baneswar Basumatary's last rites were performed at Koklabari in Assam's Baksa district on Saturday.

He had died of heart ailments at his house in Koklabari on Friday.

Basumatary, 75, leaves behind his wife and four children.

Born on November 1, 1942, Basumatary became the president of the union's central committee in 1962 and held it till 1972.

Basumatary had joined Koklabari High School as a subject teacher in 1970 and continued his service before retirement in 2000.

He had penned two poetry books - Anai and Diampur -and two books on history, Source of History and Apuni Janibo Nukhuje Neki?
