Shillong, Nov. 2: Thin attendance marked the public hearing here today on the draft NER Vision 2020, held at the NEC auditorium.
This draft vision plan of the North Eastern Council (NEC), christened NER Vision 2020, has been prepared by the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy for the NEC.
Less than 50 participants turned up for the meeting. There was no participation from Garo Hills, Jaintia Hills and other parts of Khasi Hills.
Mostly academicians, bureaucrats, politicians and representatives of social organisations based in Shillong attended the hearing.
The initiative for the public hearing was taken by the NEC in 2005. It is the culmination of the process of formulating the vision document.
The Meghalaya Peoples Human Rights Council criticised the public hearing.
