Imphal, Oct. 26: DSA Senapati MTFC sailed into the final round with a 5-3 victory over Wangkhem Youth Club in the 55th Sir Churchand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament at Mapal Kangjeibung today.

Wangkhem Youth Club got their breakthrough in the 58th minute as S. Lalabi headed home off a cross by W. Padma for the lead. DSA Senapati player V.S. Samotha flummoxed substitute keeper Bobo Singh to score in the 73rd minute.

The score was tied at 1-1 during regulation hours.

In the tiebreak, N. Ibomcha, Kasar, M. Dhana and Th. Joy converted their kicks for DSA Senapati while for Wangkhem, only L. Ashok and S. Lalabi managed to score.

In another match, Khunpham Youth Voluntary Organisation defeated Thangmeiband Athletic Union by 7-6 goals during penalty shootout to enter the final round.

Thangmeiband Athletic Union struck an early lead in the fourth minute through W. Sanathoi but Ngouba Singh shot the equaliser in the 90th minute. In the tiebreak, Kh. Amujao, Bipin, Sonamani, L. Mahesh, L. Lempa and L. Boynao scored for Khunpham while Kh. Vicky, L. Milan, S. Krishan, Augustin and Joseph Golmei scored for Thangmeiband.

Inter-college volleyball: Thoubal College defeated Thambal Marik College to lift the men’s champion’s title of the Manipur University Inter-College Volleyball Tournament at Canchipur.

In the women’s event, Manipur University claimed the title, defeating DM College of Arts.
