Dibrugarh/Guwahati, Oct. 25: Hosts Dibrugarh today defeated Margherita by 145 runs in the inaugural match of the R.G. Baruah Trophy under-17 inter-district cricket tournament at Dibrugarh Outdoor Stadium.
Another home side, Mangaldoi, was not that lucky as it went down to Udalguri by three wickets. After bundling out the hosts for 121 in 26.5 overs, Udalguri romped home losing seven wickets in 31.5 overs.
In Dibrugarh, the home team compiled 190 for eight in the stipulated 35 overs and then skittled out Margherita for 45 runs in 21.5 overs.
The Duliajan leg of the tournament will begin on November 4. Tomorrow, Karbi Anglong will play Jorhat in Dibrugarh, while Tezpur take on Dhubri and Rangiya clash with Shillong in Mangaldoi.
