Delhi players top list

Guwahati, July 22: Delhi players Vishu Prasad and Karman Kaur lead the seedings in the under-16 boys and girls events in the OIL-AITA Super Series Tennis Tournament that will get under way at the All Assam Tennis Association complex here from tomorrow.

The others among the top four seeds in the boys’ singles are Dhruv Pal of Uttarakhand, S.D. Prajwal Dev of Karnataka and Indra Patwardhan of Maharashtra while those in the girls’ singles are Rashmitha Reddy Pasula and Sruta Kirti Gunuganti of Andhra Pradesh and Thanushree Palanivale of Tamil Nadu respectively.

B.R. Nikshep of Karnataka and Sruta K. Gunuganti top the under-14 boys’ and girls’ seedings. Paramveer Singh Bajwa (Chandigarh), Bijoy Kumar Mohanty (Assam) and Sanil Jagtiani (West Bengal) are seeded second to fourth respectively in the boys’ seedings while R. Abinikka of Tamil Nadu, Mihika Yadav of Maharashtra and Jeniffer Luikham of Haryana are seeded second to fourth respectively.

P. Apuroop Reddy (Andhra Pradesh), Amlan Jyoti Baruah, Sidharth Choudhury and Parikshit Somani (all Assam) are given wildcard entry in the under-16 boys’ singles while those in under-16 girls' are Eeshita Pandey (Uttar Pradesh), Maithry Phukan (Assam), Rachana Reddy and Raveena Reddy (both Andhra Pradesh).

In the under-14 singles, the wildcard entry boys are Adil Kalyanpur (Karnataka), Prithvi Khanna (Delhi), Ankeet Kashyap (Assam) and Abhimanyu V. (Karnataka) in boys’ and Sabhyata Nihalini (Delhi), Rishika Ravi (Tamil Nadu), Nairuti Vyas (Gujarat) and Lenien Jamir (Assam) in girls.

The qualifying rounds completed today and those who have qualified for the main draw are:

Boys’ under-14: Ishaque Eqbal (Bengal), Sidharth Basnet (Sikkim), Utkarsh Bharadwaj (Uttarakhand), Abhinav Sanjeev, Ojes Theyjo (both TN), Vitsizolie Nagi (Nagaland), Aman Deo (Jharkhand) and Rohit Kumar (Haryana).

Girls’ under-14: Raveena Reddy (AP), Ramya N., Lathika Premkumar (both TN), Yuranee Banerjee (Bengal), Pratiksha Sen (Karnataka), Aneema John (UP), Tanmayee Patnaik (Odisha) and Swara Kulkarni (Maharashtra).

Boys’ under-16: Mingki Talom (Arunachal), Arjun Ramakrishnan (TN), Chinmay D. Chauhan (UP), Eklavya Singh (Jharkhand), Sheikh Osama (AP), Arkashish M. Talukdar (Assam), Rian Pandole (Maharashtra) and Sultan S. Atwal (Punjab).

Girls’ under-16: Shivani Ingle (Maharashtra), Rashmita Rajan (Karnataka), Akansha Bhan (Gujarat), Kalpana Choudhury (Bengal), Sai Y. Deedipya (AP), Tanvi Bhat (Kerala), Harsh Challa (AP) and Rishika Ravi (TN).
