Jan. 30: A leading personality development institute of the city will have cricket as its theme when it celebrates its first anniversary on Sunday.
New Directions, the personality development institute, will portray the “life of a cricketer” during the celebrations to be held at the District Library. “The entire ambience will be that of the cricketing world. The stage will be designed like a cricket stadium and the institute’s students dressed like cricketers will play mock cricket like in the movie Lagaan,” Vineeta, the event co-ordinator, said.
The show, to be supported by the socio-cultural and event management group Dream Merchants, will also give the students a chance to showcase their talents through programmes like Tol Mol Ke Bol, spot questions, stage plays, game shows, kids talent hunt and sizzling dances besides others.
“We have tried to make the celebrations as innovative as possible. The concept is to show how even a common man can hone his talents and taste success. Junior artists of the institute will portray how a common man slowly, but gradually, turns into a great legend,” Aashish Jalan of Dream Merchants said.
The added attraction of the mock cricketers’ show will be the two 8-feet-long cricket bats that will be installed outside the gates.
The event planners propose to intersperse the show with surprise gifts that will include VCDs, music systems, suits, furnishing material, saris, package tours, deodorants for the audience every ten minutes.
New Directions, a personality development centre for all age groups, claims to assist its students “to act confidently in all fields”.
“Our courses are designed to train people to have a cutting edge over others. It also helps us analyse the calibre of the students,” Vineeta said. The various courses that the institute offers are on dance, drama, assorted painting, computers, crafts, advertisement, communication skills, vocabulary, current topics, IQ test, indoor games, yoga and meditation. “The student-teacher ratio which is 4:15 is the institute’s USP,” Vineeta said.
Institute authorities said effort was on to highlight the students’ talents and help them overcome their shortcomings. Of late, the institute has also launched coaching for chartered accountancy and company secretary courses.
