Guwahati, Aug. 7: The district and sessions court, Kamrup (metro), will pass its order on the 22-year-old gruesome murder of mother-daughter duo Karabi and Dubori on August 22.
Karabi Das and her minor daughter, Chandrani Dharitri (Dubori), were shot dead at their residence at Ambari here on July 31, 1995.
The CBI investigated the case and filed a chargesheet against three persons - businessman Bhagya Kalita, his driver Md Fatiur Ali and surrendered Ulfa member Bhupen Medhi.
After the twin murders, Medhi disappeared and was declared absconder by the court. Till date, Medhi's fate is unknown.
At the time of the incident, Karabi's husband Ujjal Kumar Das was out of station and there were only four persons in the house, comprising Karabi, Dubori, their domestic help Manju Dey and Karabi's six-year-old son Angshuman.
The police had recorded the statements of Manju and Angshuman under Sections 161 and 164 CrPC.
Angshuman, in his statement, said it was the security guard of Kalita who had committed the murder, along with one more man who was unknown to him.
Manju, in her statement, said the driver, Ali, used to come regularly, driving Kalita, who used to meet Karabi frequently.
She said Kalita was the main culprit and she had seen him flee in his car.
The CBI had charged the accused under Section 302 IPC (murder).
