Guwahati, Nov. 9: Combine English School entered the final of 10th Golap Hazarika all-Assam inter-school (under-16) cricket tournament defeating Gurukul Grammar School by 148 runs in the first semi-final at Dispur Parade ground here today.

In a one-sided affair, Combine School elected to bat and piled up a mammoth target of 233 losing eight wickets in the stipulated 25 overs. In reply, the Gurukul boys were bundled out for a mere 85 in 16.2 overs.

Romario Sharma gave an all-round performance to single-handedly sink the Gurukul ship.

First he made a quickfire 61 in only 35 deliveries to take Combine English to a commanding position.

He then notched up three wickets for only one run to be eventually named the Man of the Match.

For Gurukul, Chinmoy Kashyap made a 19-ball- 31 and Manoj Barman made 20. The other batsmen surrendered meekly. Manash Das of Combine School scalped four wickets for 18 runs.

In the second semi-final on Tuesday, Srimanta Sankar Academy will meet Paramount English School.
