Sept. 18: Samiran Baishya, who won the post of general secretary of Cotton College Union Society (CCUS) for the last two consecutive terms, is eyeing a hattrick this year, when the society elects its new office bearers on September 26.
The All Assam Students’ Union has also decided to extend its full support to him.
“It would be a tough job for Baishya to win the election for a third consecutive term. Cottonians are very choosy voters. They hate monotony and always look for change. It had reflected in the past elections,” a senior teacher said.
Expressing his confidence in holding the post for a third consecutive term, Samiran Baishya said he would highlight his achievements during the last two terms to seek votes from fellow Cottonians.
While Mahananda Das, who is in the fray against Baishya for the top post, could not be contacted for his comments. But one of his close associates said he is all set to upset Baishya’s applecart.
