Guwahati: Life coach and interior designer Shirin Latif has embarked on a campaign to convey the stories of 100 empowered women from different walks of life to the world.

"My campaign #GorgeousYou features gorgeous women from all walks of life. They are like anyone but have stories to tell, stories that are touching and provide us with a lot of learning. They make us realise how important is the synchronicity of the inner and outer beauty to achieve self-confidence, self-reflection, self-esteem and happiness. These stories are of utmost importance to the community, providing inspiration to those who require it," said Shirin, who shuttles between Mumbai and Guwahati.

The stories range from that of the 10-year-old shuttler Tanishka Mihir Verma of Madhya Pradesh to 100-year-old Gandhian and Padmashree awardee Hema Prabha Bharali of Assam.

Stories of more than 15 women from the Northeast, including seven from Assam, have been included in the campaign.

"It all started when realisation dawned on me that life is superficial. I was redesigning the presidential suite at Grand Hyatt Erawan in Bangkok with the brief that I change everything as then American President Barack Obama was going to stay and would not like to share the things that his predecessor George W. Bush had used on his stay. Everything was torn down and remodelled. There was no concern for the money spent. In contrast, another section struggles to eat one square meal. I decided to give back something to society and this is my first endeavour towards women's empowerment," said Shirin.

She is also planning to come out with a coffee-table book containing 25 of the best stories from around the country. A documentary on Hema Prabha is also on the anvil.

Shirin will organise an event called Expressions - Open Mic to provide a platform to people to speak about their feelings at Tea Story cafe here on Friday.

Shirin was the interior design consultant at Vivanta by Taj here prior to its opening. She has worked in that capacity for many international hotel brands.
