New IBM centre

Jorhat, May 17: IBM will soon launch its innovation centre for education programme at Kaziranga University here in order to bridge the gap between academia and industry.

IED blasts

Imphal: Two IEDs exploded in Imphal and Moreh on Tuesday. No one was injured. No group claimed responsibility.

3 expelled

Jorhat: All Adivasi Students' Association of Assam expelled three of its leaders for reportedly campaigning with the BJP and BPF in the recently-held Assembly polls. The expelled leaders are general secretary Joseph Minjo, acting president Pradip Nag and vice-president Rajen Hor.

Apprehended

Kokrajhar: A Kamatapur Liberation Organisation rebel, identified as Vikram Barman, 22, was apprehended from Bajugaon in Kokrajhar district. A country made rifle along with a 7.62mm live rounds was recovered from him.

Jawan suicide

Tezpur: A CISF jawan, Rama Kosh Anna, 26, committed suicide using his service gun at Salonibari airport in Sonitpur district on Tuesday.

Storm

Guwahati: Zunheboto town in Nagaland was hit by a heavy storm on Monday. Altogether 15 houses were destroyed in Amiphoto Colony and North Point Colony.

Mill seized

Dhemaji: Dhemaji district forest department on Tuesday seized an illegal timber mill, under Gogamukh forest beat in Aduad village, 35km from here. The mill owners escaped.

2 arrested

Jorhat: Papul Kalita and Bhaity Bora were arrested from the former's residence at Kamarbandha in Golaghat district on Tuesday. A stolen bike was recovered from them.
