Kokrajhar, July 27: A Bodo dance training programme is being organised by the Centre for Bodo Studies (CBS), Bodoland University, Debargaon, in Kokrajhar.
Various Bodo dance forms, including Mwsaglangnai, Bardwisikla Mwsanai, Bagurumba Mwsanai, are being taught during the month-long training, which will continue till July 31. Over 50 students are participating in the dance training, which started on July 3.
Renowned Bodo dance master Barlangfa Brahma said the training is an initiative taken by the university to preserve the culture, language and identity of the Bodos and other ethnic groups of the state.
Ganesh Wary, director in-charge of the CBS, said the centre is providing vocational training on ethnic dance, ethnic music, classical music, classical dance, sculpture, art and paintings, ethnic language among others.
He said the CBS is trying to preserve the identity and culture of the Bodos and other ethnic communities.
Hemanta Baruah, vice-chancellor of Bodoland University, said the university is going to introduce other departments. He hoped that the Bodoland University would be on a par with other reputed universities in the country.
