
Guwahati: On a mission to encourage blood donation, founder of Simply Blood app Kiran Verma reached Guwahati on Tuesday en route to his 15,000km walk across India, Nepal and Bhutan.
New Delhi-based Verma started the walk from Srinagar on January 26 and has already travelled 10,500km, of which he has covered more than 3,200km on foot.
"I have spread my message among more than 7,00,000 people across Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Bengal and Assam so far by sharing my vision with students in colleges and Universities, public places like malls, restaurants, railway stations, bus stands and others. I am going to visit all the states and the Union Territories in the country. My mission is to encourage at least 10 people every kilometre to take a pledge to donate blood at least once in their lifetime," Verma said.
According to Verma, more than 12,000 people die everyday because of lack of blood.
In the last one year, Simply Blood app has saved 2,000 lives in 11 countries. The blood donation and receipt is done free of charge through the app.
