Bajoria defeat Nanak

Shillong, March 25: B.K. Bajoria Higher Secondary School defeated St Nanak Secondary School by six wickets and Ruprekha Parishad Secondary School defeated Queenie Secondary School by 74 runs in the eighth inter-school cricket tournament, organised by Shillong Cricket Association at the Polo cricket grounds here today.

In the first match, put in to bat, St Nanak Secondary School were all out for 62 in 19 overs. B.K. Bajoria HS School reached 63 for four in 15 overs.

Vikash Kumar of Nanak scored 10 while Saurav Sharma of Bajoria scalped four for 10. Harsh Podder topscored for Bajoria with 17 while Pankaj Mahato of Nanak claimed one for 12.

In the second match, Ruprekha Parishad Secondary School opted to bat and were all out for 135 in 20 overs. Rajnish Singh scored 32 while Rohit Das captured two for nine.

In reply, Queenie Secondary School were bundled out for 61 in 10.2 overs. Rudolf Syiemiong scored 14 while Rahul Balmiki hauled four for 11 runs. Tomorrow, Shillong Secondary School will meet St Anthony’s HS School and Laban Bengalee Boys’ HS School clash with St Xavier’s Secondary School.

AITA tennis

Seeds sailed smoothly into the boys’ under-18 second round in the AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament for under-18 boys and girls that got under way at the North East Tennis Foundation courts here today.

While Bijoy Mohanty blanked out Snehal Nayan 6-0, 6-0 in a first round match, Amlanjyoti Baruah clinched a 6-4, 6-4 victory against Abhimanyu Singh. Aman Baruah Das conceded a set before overcoming a stiff challenge from Nimesh Khandwal 7-5, 5-7, 6-1 in the longest match of the day.

The girls’ under-18 singles and the boys’ under-18 doubles matches of the tournament, which is being sponsored by the guardians of 10 city-based participants, will start tomorrow.
