Guwahati, Dec. 7: Brains behind nearly 40 start-ups will meet in Upper Assam's Sivasagar town on January 22 and form the All Assam Entrepreneurs' Association to catch up with the growing entrepreneurship culture in the country by sharing their experiences, challenges and solutions.

Hironmoy Gogoi, 22, who is running multiple start-ups since 2013 in IT, education and livelihood fields, will lead the initiative. "Like rest of the country, many youngsters in Assam are also into entrepreneurship. We need to have a well-organised platform where we can share our challenges, success stories and help each other solve our problems," he said.

Hironmoy founded Northeastern Institute of Technology in 2013, an organisation that provides free computer education to students in rural areas. He then started MCH Technologies, a BPO that works for several companies in the US, UK, Canada, Dubai and the like. His latest venture, Ghar Ka Khana, offers online booking of food, prepared by women in villages, for customers in urban areas. The service is now available in Sivasagar and Jorhat towns and Hironmoy plans to expand it to other towns, including Guwahati.

"Women in villages prepare the food according to the orders we receive online. This helps our customers in towns to enjoy homemade food, while the women get to increase their family income," he said.

The participants in the meeting are involved in various start-ups like organic farming, natural farming, IT, e-commerce, education, consultancy and others.

Formation of the association assumes importance as the Centre is focusing on development of skill and entrepreneurship in the Northeast to create jobs.

Apart from helping each other and co-ordinating with the government agencies and other stakeholders, the association is also planning to conduct awareness drives to promote entrepreneurship culture among local students.

"We want to spread the message that we study not just to get jobs but also to generate jobs. The association will meet from time to time and try to involve more entrepreneurship to create more jobs," Hironmoy, who is pursuing a junior engineering course, said.
