Guwahati, Sept. 10: Defending champions Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB) SC today tamed Food Corporation of India (FCI) SC 4-0 in a one-sided encounter of the R.G. Baruah Trophy Guwahati Super League football tournament at Nehru Stadium here.

On a turf rendered partially slippery following an afternoon drizzle, the powermen, known as good exploiters of the conditions, dominated the show right from the word go.

After a slow start because of the drizzles, the powermen started their raids after the half-an-hour mark and their efforts yielded as early as the 33rd minute when striker Jessy Vanlalmuana struck off a centre by Syed Ansar from the right flank.

Leading by a solitary goal into the second half, the powermen pumped in three more goals through substitute Jwmbla Brahma, Sanatomba Sharma and Vanlalmuana. Skipper Sanjay Boro's shot from the right flank missed the second post by a whisker in the 52nd minute and Brahma found the net off the subsequent flag kick by Hiteswar Hazowary in the 53rd minute.

Sharma found the net with solo efforts through the left flank in the 62nd minute and Vanlalmuana netted the fourth goal of the match and his second off a pass from Dipu Mirdha in the 79th minute.

The powermen would have won the match by one more goal had a powerful shot by Rahul Das from the top of the box not brushed past the crosspiece in the 64th minute.

On the contrary, the FCI men were humiliated most of the time in the match with hardly any ball possession till the last few minutes when they tried to go all out but their efforts were not enough to get the better of the ASEB defence Daoga Brahma into action.

A Div. league: Dynamo Club blanked out Maharana Athletic Club 2-0 in a match of the Jibeswar Goswami first division league on the second turf of Nehru Stadium here today. Nobin Chwria and skipper Kh Amujao Singh found the net in the 15th and 82nd minutes respectively.
