Yes, the gateway to the Northeast should have more mobile service providers.

In this fast changing world, when every thing, from the tiniest of safety pins to the biggest of airbuses have to be of the best quality to meet the demands of customers and survive the competition, the two mobile operators providing cellular service, namely the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Reliance, have failed miserably to live up to customers? expectations.

The principal factor behind this failure is the lack of a competitive market arising out of the absence of more such operators offering their service in Guwahati.

Here, a customer has to rely on these two existing networks despite poor service.

Officials manning the helpdesks and the customer service centres of both the service providers too turn a deaf ear to the complaints, as they know that the subscribers have little else to fall back on.

The emergence of more service providers will increase competition and every operator, old or new, will be forced to improve their services to retain their subscriber base.

Moreover, it is ridiculous notion that more service providers will ruin the existing mobile networks. For the Doubting Thomases, here?s a question.

If the networks have not crashed in the metros such as Delhi and Mumbai, where there are half a dozen cellular companies offering their services, why should a few more networks create a problem in Guwahati?

It will not be too much if I include cell phones with the three basic needs of our lives, i.e, roti, kapra, makan and mobile.

Keeping in mind the increasing number of mobile users, I think the service provider for the same should also be increased to cater to the needs of the customers. Our city has witnessed the havoc caused by the monopoly of a single mobile service provider.

Now, it is high time for Guwahati to have a list of mobile service providers, so that the customer is in a position to choose.

The entry of another one or two leading mobile service providers will be a welcome change in the booming cell market in the city, which is on an increase with the every tick by the clock. Competition might also force the existing providers to improve their service. The two service providers of the city urgently need to be shrugged out of their complacency and only the entry of new providers can ensure this.

Having more mobile service providers in the city is not a bad idea and would definitely be a blessing in disguise for the denizens who are frustrated with the poor network service of the two mobile service providers, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Reliance.

Both Reliance and BSNL have miserably failed to rise to the people?s expectation.

Thus, in order to improve the the mobile phone network, some already big names in the industry such as Airtel and Hutch, should come and provide better service network to the denizens of Guwahati.

Yes, as the fastest growing city and gateway to the Northeast, the city needs more mobile service providers than the existing two.

Nowadays, from vegetable vendors to milkmen, everyone uses mobile phones. Cell phones have become a part and parcel of our lives.

Considering the increasing number of mobile phone users, I think providing more service providers will certainly improve the mobile communication service in the city.

Owing to poor network service of mobile phones, many people have been avoiding the service and many customers are opting out of it.

Therefore, I would like to request other mobile service providers, like Hutch and Airtel, through the column of your esteemed daily, to open shop in the city for better customer services.

Although mobile phones have been in vogue for last few years, yet due to poor network service, the mobile phone customers are going through a harrowing time.

The two network service providers, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited and Reliance are not capable of providing proper network service. Both have issued more connections than they could provide service to and the customers are the sufferers.

Thus, if other companies like Airtel and Hutch come to Guwahati, customers can heave a sigh of relief as it will obviously improve the mobile service network.

Paying the mobile phone bills is another ordeal.

Apart from erratic and fantastic bills, paying the bills after standing for hours in the queue means postponement of an entire day?s work.

People who have a mobile connection often complain that they do not get the facilities they ought to get.

Either the mobile network remains busy or is not reachable.

In order to make an important call, people have to wait for a long time for lack of network support.

Even when one has the fortune of getting connected, people have to shout at the top of their voices to be heard.

To give some relief to the customers, better mobile service providers are needed.

Mobile phone users will be relieved if other prominent and people-friendly mobile service providers are introduced in the city.
