ATPA Shield
Jorhat, Sept. 10: Amulya Das scored a brace to help Assam Police Blues crush Estantic Club 3-0 in a pre-quarterfinal match of the ATPA Shield football tournament here today.
The Blues, making their maiden appearance in the 44th edition of this premier tournament, opened their account in the 15th minute through Amulya, who foxed the rival defenders to enter the danger zone and score from close range.
Arun Daimary increased the lead a few minutes later with a flick to a measured assist from the midfield.
Amulya found the net for the second time in the dying minutes of the first half after a one-to-one with the opposition goalkeeper. There was confusion in the Estantic ranks since they thought Amulya would be ruled offside. The Blues, however, missed several opportunities in the second half to make the final scores more impressive.
Tomorrow, Assam Police will take on White Dove Club of Diphu in a quarterfinal match.
