Shillong, Jan. 1: Air Marshal S.B. Deo today took over as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Eastern Air Command of the Indian Air Force following the retirement of Air Marshal R.K. Jolly yesterday.
A fighter combat leader and a qualified flying instructor, Air Marshal Deo was commissioned in the fighter stream on June 15, 1979.
The Air Marshal has tenanted various important staff and field appointments during his career spanning over 35 years.
Before taking over as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Eastern Air Command, he was director-general air (operations) at air headquarters.
For his distinguished service, he was awarded the Presidential awards of Ati Vishist Seva Medal, Vayu Sena Medal and Vishist Seva Medal.
He is married to Anjna Deo who also assumed the charge of President, Air Force Wives Welfare Association (regional) today.
A ceremonial guard of honour by the air warriors of headquarters Eastern Air Command was accorded to the Air Marshal on assuming command.
