Guwahati, May 11: Adarsh Hindi High School and Fairyland High School registered mammoth victories in their respective matches in the 4th All Assam Dhan Sena Sinha Inter-School Cricket Tournament at Latasil ground here today.
While Adarsh School humbled Sunflower English High School by five wickets, Fairyland boys tamed Swahid Kushal Konwar High School by 32 runs. With today’s win, Fairyland sealed a quarter-final berth for themselves.
In the first match of the day, put to bat first, Sunflower boys were all out for 134 in 18.3 overs with Ramesh Rai of Adarsh School notching up four wickets for 18 runs.
Somraj Boro topscored for Sunflower with an unbeaten 19 while Akib Ali chipped in with 17 runs.
In reply, Adarsh School made 136 in 17.3 overs with the loss of five wickets. Surinder Prasad topscored with an unbeaten 39 while Sangam Panjiar remained not out at the other end on 22. Prasad was later adjudged Man of the Match.
In the second match, Fairyland elected to bat and were all out for 106 in 16.5 overs chasing which Kushal Konwar School were bundled out for 74 in 16.1 overs.
Shaddin Kutumb with 19 runs and Thaneswar Ghimire with 15 were the only Fairyland batsmen to score in double figures. Dipok Brahma of Kushal Konwar School scalped three wickets for 14, while Raj Sarma and Atul Boro picked up two wickets each conceding four and 20 runs respectively.
For Kushal Konwar School, Dipankar Rai scored a cameo 22 while Jayanta Borgohain chipped in with 14. Romario Momin Sharma was the pick of the Fairyland bowlers having hauled four for seven, while Thaneswar Ghimire claimed two scalps for five runs. Romario was later adjudged Man of the Match.
Paramount High School will clash with St Joseph School and Rangia High School will play Kendriya Vidyalaya, Khanapara, in tomorrow’s matches.
