West Bengal governor C.V. Ananda Bose at a programme at Sealdah station to witness virtually the foundation-laying ceremony of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Prime Minister Narendra Modi did the honours through video-conferencing. The scheme will cover the redevelopment of 508 stations, of which 28 stations fall under Eastern Railway. Some of the stations in West Bengal that will be upgraded with state-of-the-art passenger amenities are Asansol, Pandabeswar, Andal, Simultala, Kumardubi, Burdwan, Rampurhat, Katwa, Azimganj, Sheoraphuli, Ambika Kalna, Tarakeswar, Nabadwip Dham, Bolpur, Malda Town, New Farakka, Jamalpur, Sahibganj, Sultanganj, Kahalgaon, Pirpainti, Berhampore court, Krishnanagar City, Bethuadahari, Sealdah, Barrackpore, Chandpara and Shantipur
