Sessions on digital public infrastructure and Mamata Banerjee’s address mark the first day

1/5 The first 'Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion' meeting of the G20 began in Kolkata on Monday. According to officials, the three-day meeting, from January 9 to 11,  will focus on the principles of digital financial inclusion, remittance costs and SME finance availability. The theme of India’s G20 presidency is ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.’ Twelve international speakers are attending this meet, including senior officials from the World Bank, Monetary Authority of Singapore, France and Estonia. Unique Identity Authority of India (UIDAI) CEO Saurabh Garg and National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) MD and CEO Dilip Asbe are also scheduled to address the sessions. An exhibition on digital innovations for advancing financial inclusion and sessions on the role of digital public infrastructure in financial inclusion and productivity gains among others were some of the events scheduled for the first day. A message from Queen Maxima of the Netherlands was part of the inaugural session

Banerjee pointed out that her government had ensured financial inclusion of women and people of vulnerable sections through digital transfers.
