Silicon Valley, Oct. 31 (PTI): A global survey has found that Indian women are significantly happier with their lives than men but they are also the only ones to have major disagreements.
“In particular, women are much happier than men in Japan, India, the Philippines, Pakistan and Argentina,” said the survey by the Pew Research Centre for People and the Press that oversaw 38,000 interviews in 44 countries.
Across the world, women appeared somewhat happier than men, though the gender gap was most pronounced in developing countries. In India, 21 per cent of women respondents rated their lives as being on the highest rung of the ladder of life, compared with 13 per cent of men.
The global gender gap also reflected differing life perspectives. The survey found the only major disagreements between the sexes are in India, where men are more unhappy about global affairs than women.
The happiest men and women lived in the US and Canada and the least satisfied were those in eastern and southern Africa.
