Ranchi, Feb. 17: A mini-India is shining in the state capital.

Around 200 youths from six states have assembled for the National Integration Camp at Human Resource and Development Centre, Gossner Compound, in Ranchi, to share concerns and learn about holistic rural transformation.

Organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (Jharkhand), the camp kicked off on February 14 and will continue till February 20. As many as 50 youngsters are from Jharkhand’s districts, Giridih, Gumla, Ranchi, Palamau and Khunti, while the rest are from Jammu & Kashmir, Orissa, Bengal, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

Currently, youths are working through clubs in respective rural pockets. Each club — with 10 youths — spreads word on education, health and social issues.

Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (Jharkhand) zonal director Rita Bhagat said: “The best part of the camp is to see youths blur state borders.”

Morning activities in the camp are knowhow sessions on Right To Information Act, HIV/AIDS, women’s empowerment, peace and security, among others. Fun and games start in the evening, with songs, debates, drawing and essay writing. Folk events see youngsters join in with gusto.

Virendra Singh, from Jammu’s Doda district, said: “I’m visiting Ranchi for the first time. We like Jharkhand’s culture and costumes.” His state mate Ather Manzor said he loved eating Gujarati dhokla.

On a serious note, Palamau girl Poonam said: “This is a much-needed platform to exchange ideas and cultures. Learning each other’s language is great.”

“I’ll always remember this camp,” summed up Ali Shamshad from Uttar Pradesh.
