Jamshedpur, Dec. 20: It would probably be one of the most memorable moments when a teacher would receive a book penned by over 70 of his associates.

Come December 22, city academician and director of SDSM School of Excellence N.K. Singh would be presented a book titled Journey of Excellence as a tribute from friends and colleagues.

Singh, who is also the founder-director of both Jamshedpur Cooperative College and Graduate School College for Women, has not only added a new chapter in the city’s education circuit but has authored several books on teaching.

“For the past 50 years, Singh has made significant contributions. Therefore, a few of his students decided to do something special on his 75th birthday,” said Nirmala Shukla, co-editor of the book and head of department of Botany at the Graduate School College for Women.

To prepare this unconventional and unique present, the students sent across invitations to people all over the country, requesting their contribution.

From politicians, writers to corporate bigwigs and leading bureaucrats, all have helped to unfold the untold story of the academician.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Singh said: “I have spent a lifetime in impro- ving the quality of education in the city and if I am to receive such recognition from my students, it cannot get any better.”

Governor Syed Sibtey Razi will release the book at Michael John Auditorium, added Singh.

A few leading names, who have made this venture a success, include Veer Bharat, senior faculty at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Pawan Chaudhary, managing director of Hindustan Cosmetics, Shaligram Yaday, chairman of Jharkhand Academic Council and Bhaskar Rao, renowned Hindi author from the city.
