Jamshedpur, March 8: Tata Football Academy (TFA) managed to hold the formidable Churchill Brothers to a goal-less draw as State Bank of Travancore (SBT) defeated Punjab Police 2-0 in the second division National Football League (Group A) matches played at the JRD Tata Sports Complex today.
The team from Goa played without their main scorer, Odafe Onkeke Okolie. But the Goan defence, manned by Osumanu Husseini and Villroy D?Cruz, refused to wilt under the TFA pressure.
TFA has so far garnered eight points from four matches, while Churchill boasts of seven from as many matches. The former?s match with SBT (on March 14) will be a do-or-die battle while the latter plays the relatively weak Punjab Police.
Meanwhile, SBT came out with a tremendous performance and outscored Punjab Police in the opening match of the day. The Kerala outfit outplayed their rivals who were without four players.
