Ranchi, April 9: The state government today transferred 11 IPS officers in the midst of an operation against Naxalites but quite a few new arrangements have not gone down well in the police circle.

In just nine months, rebel stronghold Khunti will get the fourth superintendent of police (SP). Present SP Aseem Vikrant Minj has been transferred to Godda in the same capacity. He will be replaced by incumbent Manoj Kaushik, who was serving as commandant of battalion I of Jharkhand Armed police in Ranchi.

Besides, Minj’s performance was applauded in Khunti, which had witnessed dreadful incidents like kidnap and brutal murder of Special Branch inspector Francis Indwar from Arki, a hotbed of rebels where dreaded area commander Kundan Pahan rules the roost.

“There was simply no need to transfer efficient SPs from areas where anti-Naxalite operation is on,” said a top police officer.

In today’s notification issued by the home department, Prabhat Kumar, the present ADC to governor, has been made Chatra SP. Superintendent of railway police, Dhanbad, T. Kandaswamy will now act as ADC to governor while Gumla superintendent of police Narendra Kumar Singh has been given additional charge of commandant of upcoming battalion four of India Reserve Battalion at Gumla only.

Michael Raj S., a native of Kerala and a 1996 batch IPS offer, who has been doing good as additional superintendent of police in Kiriburu (West Singhbhum), has been given the post of Ranchi SP (rural).

In other decisions, CID deputy inspector-general Deepak Verma has been transferred in the same capacity at Police Training Centre, Hazaribagh.

Godda SP Amarnath Khanna has been transferred as CID SP while Chatra SP Deo Bihari Sharma is SP in Special Task Force.

Former Ranchi (rural) SP Mohit Bundas has been made SP, CID.

Meanwhile, CRPF DIG Alok Raj said Operation Greenhunt would be launched in new areas soon.
