Ranchi, April 29: Laughter is the best medicine, or so goes the saying and Speaker Inder Singh Namdhrai couldn’t agree more.

He prescribed Kilkari for all students in the state, which in Hindi means laughter. The Speaker said a student should always laugh and play. “It is our responsibility to keep them happy. This can be done by providing them with the best of education,” he said at the annual day function of the Tender Heart School.

Namdhari was the chief guest. Human resources development minister P.N. Singh was the guest of honour.

A cultural programme was organised by the children of the school. The programme started with kicked the presentation of the annual school report by director Sudhir Tiwary. “Our students have done wonders in their studies as well as in co curricular activities. This has been possible due to the able guidance of our teaching and non teaching staff and the parents, he said.”

Singh said: “At present the state has a 53% literacy rate, which is pretty dismal. Only education can develop a society and a state. Jharkhand is a land of natural resources. If we use these resources properly, we can achive a lot. For this education is a must.”

Namdhari said: “Every school should organise such functions at least once a year. It provides the students with a platform to showcase their talents. I have asked the human resources minister to provide no-objection certificates to as many schools as he can. Only then the level of education is going to improve and more and more students will learn to read and write. The poor students should be provided with free education.”
