Jamshedpur, Aug. 3: Pokhari-based Netaji Subhas Institute of Business Management (NSIBM) will soon be introducing a course in retail management for its MBA students.
The course, which is likely to be introduced from the next academic session that is scheduled to begin in September this year, will help students learn the various facets of business management.
“It will be a one year certificate programme for MBA students. The college will not charge anything extra from the students for the new course,” said spokesperson of NSBIM Nagendra Singh.
Giving details, Singh said that the course would comprise 19 chapters divided into five groups and would help students picking up various nuances of retail management, which was very essential and relevant in the present times.
“The course would include merchandise management, challenges and various models and theories of retail management,” Singh said.
Officials of the placement division of the institute further revealed that during the recent placement season, several companies including Reliance Retail and Lilliput India, looked for students with exposure to retail management.
“Keeping this in mind, we decided to introduce the retail management course,” said an official associated with the placement cell of the institute.
He added that the college would soon begin the process of recruiting faculty members for the new management course.
Situated around 19 kilometres from the city and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, NSIBM is affiliated to Kolhan University. The institute has an allotted strength of 120 students for its MBA course and recorded cent per cent placements this year for the second time in a row.
