Jamshedpur: Visitors to Jubilee Park can now park their vehicles for free at a one and-a-half acre plot near the Sakchi gate.

Thanks to Jusco, the parking area, set up near Subernarekha Link Road near Rabindra Bhavan and Nicco Jubilee Amusement Park, can accommodate around 60 cars, 200 two-wheelers and five buses.

Jusco senior general manager Dhananjay Mishra said the parking lot would be thrown open to the public from Sunday. "The parking zone has been developed keeping in view the demand of visitors to Jubilee Park. It's a free parking zone. Visitors will not have to pay any parking fees," he told The Telegraph.

There are separate entry and exit routes for cars, two-wheelers and buses, and a well-planed pathway for people to come out after parking their vehicles.

Mishra said Jusco took care not to disturb the greenery of the area. "The parking zone has lots of shade as we have not removed trees. It has been developed as per specifications of Indian Road Congress, the oldest technical body of highway engineers in India," he said, adding that securitymen would also be present.

The area remains busy throughout the day with visitors pouring in to Nicco Jubilee Amusement Park, Rabindra Bhavan and Jubilee Park.

Steel residents welcomed the new parking lot. "The dedicated zone will help in resolving parking issues. It's good that the parking zone also has a separate place earmarked for buses. This would prevent parking of buses on Subernarekha Link Road," said Anupam Bakshi, a Jubilee Park regular.
