It’s time for teachers of East Singhbhum’s state-run schools to get a mindset makeover.
At least, that was the intent behind the two-day workshop on motivational teaching hosted by district education department that concluded on Sunday at DAV School, Sonari, in Jamshedpur.
Resource persons were eminent educators of private schools and BEd colleges.
Principals included DAV Public School’s (NIT campus) S.P. Sharma, Delhi Public School’s Dhananjay Pan, Kendriya Vidyalaya’s Nalini Dean, Kerala Samajam Model School’s Nandini Shukla and Lalitha Sareen, former principal, Jamshedpur Public School. Chitra Bhatt from Loyola College of Education and Tripura Jha from the BEd department of Jamshedpur Women’s College gave valuable inputs.
The ‘students’, 300 government teachers, learnt about classroom teaching, evaluation and motivation of children.
Teachers were also told to do away with tyranny and teach with a smile.
“Resource persons told us that students take interest not in textbooks but live examples,” said Jabandhu Mahto, who teaches at Rajkiya Uchcha Vidyalaya, Birsanagar.
“We learnt about CBSE’s comprehensive and continuous evaluation system. But the challenge is in motivating students,” said Kumud, teacher at BPM High School, Burmamines.
