Jamshedpur: Trekking at Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary, around 30km from the steel city, is all set to become educative, safe and comfortable.
Dalma range office is setting up two nature trails on separate routes to the top.
The first one is a little away from the main entry point at Makulakocha and the other one is from the Kali temple along NH-33 to Ganesh Mandir inside the 192sqkm sanctuary. Both these routes snake to the hill top.
The nature trails will have signage at strategic places that will inform visitors about particular birds, reptiles or butterflies available at different times of the day. Besides, the signage will also display information about the species, their classification and places of origin.
The signage will further inform visitors about the location of elephants and other animals near the route. This will prevent trekkers from diverting from the designated nature trail and come near animals in core areas.
"We are not constructing anything along the rout. The trails will have natural seating arrangements. The seats will be made by assembling rocks and stones. Tired trekkers can rest for a while before going ahead," said Dalma range officer R.P. Singh.
According to Singh, funds for the nature trail has already been sanctioned and work will start within 10 days.
"We have received Rs 6 lakh for the project. The bushes along the two separate routes will be trimmed to ensure a safe passage. We intend to make the journey both safe and educative for trekkers," the range officer added.
Sources at the range office in Mango said more nature trails would come up in due course of time.
