Jamshedpur: From figurative to tribal-themed paintings, the art festival organised by Spandan is a visual treat for art lovers.

Goa-based organisation Spandan is organising a six-day art exhibition, which kicked off at Ramdas Bhatta Community Centre near Bistupur on Tuesday.

The exhibition titled 'Spandan Art: Dreams beyond belief' showcases artwork of over 40 paintings by 25 amateur and veteran artists from across the country.

The exhibition in Jamshedpur is a part of the national art festival, which started in 2016 and will continue till December this year, travelling 29 states and seven union territories.

"The initiative is meant to touch all states in a span of two years and Jharkhand is the 26th state to organise the exhibition. The festival will conclude in Delhi in December. Spandan has tried to bring forward the best talent from across the country. We hope to get a good response in Jamshedpur," said curator and organiser of the show Anant Vikas.

The exhibition will travel to Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar islands followed by Bhubaneswar, Vizag and Daman and Diu. Last month the exhibition was organised in Bhopal.

The six-day exhibition will also witness live painting, interaction of artists with students, art competitions and workshops.

"This is an exhibition-cum-sale. Here in Jamshedpur there are less number of art lovers as compared to the huge population. Depending on the city where we are hosting the exhibition, two to three paintings are being put up for sale. So far the sale was highest in Goa where we sold 17 paintings in the exhibition," said Vikas.

Senior artist Biplab Roy, who is also displaying his artwork at the exhibition, appreciated the efforts of the organisation.

"It is really appreciable to take such efforts to reach out to so many state with pieces of art. I really hope people, especially art students, come here and take a look at the lovely artwork here," he added.
