Jamshedpur, June 20: Khadi is poised to spin another success story in Jharkhand.
The five proposed khadi parks at Amda and Rajnagar in Seraikela-Kharsawan, Jhumri Tiliaya, Hazaribagh and Dumka are likely to be inaugurated later this year.
"Of all the parks, we are making serious efforts to make the khadi park at Amda functional on October 2. It will be apt to open the facility on Gandhi Jayanti," said Jainandu, chairperson of Jharkhand State Khadi Gramudhyog Board at a news meet today.
Set up by Jharkhand State Khadi and Village Industries Board, the rest four will be inaugurated by year-end.
According to Jainandu, the khadi park at Amda is coming up on a two-acre land. "The building is almost complete and the total cost of the project is Rs 4.65 crore," he said.
At the upcoming hub, khadi items apparel will be produced and sent to different stores. Besides, local farmers will also get training.
"We will purchase raw material, which is in abundance at Amda, from the farmers at government rates. It will help the locals earn a living. The products will be sent to different khadi stores across the country and abroad," Jainandu added.
He said that around 500 farmers would undergo training at the park annually. The khadi park at Amda will also have a Gandhi museum.
During the news meet, Jainandu also highlighted the Shilpi Rojgar Yojana. "We will provide employment to around 10,000 trained personnel in Jharkhand under Shilpi Rojgar Yojana. Nearly, 3,000 people in Kolhan will benefit under this scheme," he added.
Plans are afoot to organise Khadi Mela in Jamshedpur and Ranchi in November and December, respectively.
"Apart from selling our trademark items, we will also use these fairs to host medical camps. We will also offer help to people to get their Aadhaar and voter ID cards done at the venue," Jainandu added.
