Bokaro Steel Plant has exported 1 lakh tonne of steel during the third quarter of the fiscal year. This is the plant’s best performance during the month of December. The plant graph also showed significant rise in hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel production. There was also record production of galvanised products of over 18000 tonne during the last month. The plant is confident of achieving its target fixed for the fiscal year 2002-2003.

Gurdwara

The foundation stone for a gurdwara was laid at Prakash Nagar in Telco. The proposed building will be completed in about two years’ time. Labour minister Raghuvar Das laid the foundation stone of the building and stressed on communal harmony in the country. The guest of honour on the occasion was the president of Gurdwara Prabhandhak Committee, Sardar Shailendra Singh.

Mystery death

One Neetu Pathak, a housewife and a resident of Teachers’ Colony under Mango police station, died on Tuesday night while being taken to the Tata Main Hospital. According to police, the deceased was married about six months ago to Vijay Shankar Pathak. Police added that since then she had fallen ill and had been on medicines. They added that the deceased must have died due to reaction of medicines. The body has been sent for post-mortem.

DC on leave

Deputy commissioner Nidhi Khare would be on leave till January 13. She has gone to Calcutta on a private visit. Special officer, rationing, Jageshwar Bhagat, would be in charge till then. Khare re-assumes charge on January 13. According to sources in the district administration, several officials, including additional district magistrate N.K. Jaiswal, are on leave for the New Year.

New horses

The Tata Steel Officers' Beach Club (TSOBC) is planning to purchase two new horses for the riding club here. According to TSOBC chairman U.K. Srivastav, the club at present has eight horses and two more would be bought.

Slogan contest

Sonam Quartz organised a New Year message-cum-slogan writing competition. The entry forms for the competition were distributed on Wednesday during a cycle rally from Jugsalai to Jubilee Park. The competition will be held for a week and the best three slogans will get surprise gifts.
