Ranchi, July 8: Ranchi Regional Development Authority (RRDA) will soon launch an affordable housing project and set up an entertainment zone in its command area at Namkum.
RRDA board, headed by chairman Parma Singh, approved plans for both initiatives today.
Affordable homes would be constructed in three segments, those for the economically weaker sections (EWS) and lower (LIC) and middle (MIC) income groups. Of 58.45 acre land owned by RRDA at Tonko mouja in Namkum, 30 acre would be used for the housing project.
"The total area where houses for EWS will be built is 11.70 lakh sq feet. There will be a cluster of 12 G+11 buildings. As many as 2,112 flats for EWS will be constructed. Each house will have a carpet area of 400 sq feet," Singh said.
Similarly, in LIC, 13.65 lakh sqft area will be used for a cluster of 15 G+11 buildings. "As many as 1,320 houses, each with a carpet area of 850 sqft, have been planned," he said, adding that in the MIG segment too, the carpet area of each house would be the same as that of LIG homes.
"We have planned 1,320 MIG flats. There will be total of 14 blocks," he said, adding that Rs 75 crore had been approved for the housing project comprising 4,664 flats in total.
This apart, RRDA is building an entertainment zone at Sithio mouja, also in Namkum, and an additional multi-tier building at Khadgara bus terminus.
About the entertain zone, Singh said that funds to the tune of around Rs 93 crore had been earmarked. "It will have recreational facilities for children, food courts, marriage lawns, toy trains, a 3D theatre, among a host of other attractions, said Singh.
