Galudih, Oct. 11: Country Club, a nationwide series of resorts, has made its debut in the state in this town otherwise known as a rebel stronghold.

Set up by Galudih Inn Private Limited, the Rs 5-crore premier club — christened Country Club Galudih Resorts — has come up on the same 6-acre premises of the decade-old Galudih Resort.

“The property originally belonged to a Calcutta-based businessman, but it ran through rough weather a few years ago after a series of Naxalite activities. It was only last year that we took over this property and have developed it into a unique tourist resort in the state,” said Vinay Managalam, the director of Galudih Inn Private Ltd, after it was inaugurated by Suman Mahto, the Jamshedpur MP.

The tie-up with the premier range of Country Club, however, comes in the wake of the club setting up franchise resorts across the country. According to the agreement between Country Club and the company, Galudih Resorts would now be in the official listings of the 125-odd Country Club resorts.

“From providing technical expertise to countrywide promotion of the resort — all would now be the responsibility of the Country Club,” added Mangalam.

The 110-room club has two conference rooms with a total capacity of over 150 people, a multi-cuisine restaurant (named, “Amrapali”), bar (“Madhushala”), library, badminton and lawn tennis courts, boating area and lush green lawns. Swimming pool will soon be added to the list. Moving away from regular cottage styled resorts, the rooms are built in four fortress-styled buildings aptly named Swarnarekha, Manorama, Kadambari and Mrignayni.

Come next month, it would launch its club membership scheme, clauses for which would be same as any other Country Clubs. “The members would enjoy all facilities that are provided to Country Club members across the country,” said Chanchal Charchil, the general manager at the resort.

The club authorities also approached the state tourism department to get the resort listed as its official tourist destination.
