Ranchi, June 16: A CBI special court today sent to judicial custody two relatives of Anosh Ekka in a disproportionate assets case in which the former minister is an accused.

Ekka’s brother Abraham and brother-in-law Jaikant Bara, who surrendered after arrest warrants were issued against them, were later taken to Birsa Munda Central Jail.

Ekka, who is now Kolebira MLA, had acquired property beyond his known sources of income as minister in the cabinets of Arjun Munda, Madhu Koda and Shibu Soren from 2005 to 2008. The CBI claimed Ekka amassed around Rs 16.82 crore by misusing his office.

The agency also named as accused his wife Menon Ekka, friend Deepak Lakra, relatives Jaikant, Gidiyon Ekka, Roshan Minz and Abraham Ekka as several properties in various parts of the country were bought in their name too.

According to the CBI, Ekka also floated a company, Ekka Construction, with his wife as director to facilitate real estate deals.
