Carmel emerges champs

Carmel Junior College topped the 6th Carmel Summit inter-school chess tournament that concluded after the ninth and final round on their campus on Thursday.

Jamshedpur: Carmel Junior College topped the 6th Carmel Summit inter-school chess tournament that concluded after the ninth and final round on their campus on Thursday.

The hosts maintained their grip over the event by standing first in both the junior and senior groups. The champion school garnered 28.5 points in the junior section and 32 in the senior category, thus proving their mettle across the table.

Carmel recorded seven wins (out of nine rounds) and drew two in the junior group while the seniors won all their matches over nine rounds of the tournament.

The winning team was represented by Vinamra Bakrewal, Dhruti Shah, Saara Jain and Debanjan Singh in the junior outfit while Ishan Gupta, Atushree Das, Bidisha Roy and Abhishek Kanan led the senior group.

Sacred Heart Convent School (28 points) and DBMS Kadma High School (21 points) finished second in the junior and senior sections, respectively.
