
Jamshedpur, July 15: Calcutta lad Aroush Tagore carded the best round of the week as he clinched the top position with a tournament total of 156 at the Milky Moo Jharkhand Juniors, the fourth leg of Indian Golf Union East Zone Feeder and Sub- junior Tour 2017 at Golmuri Golf Course in the steel city today.
Aroush managed a two stroke victory over halfway leader and Calcutta mate Abhikanks Basu, who shot a second successive 79 to card a gross total of 158. Calcutta's Samridh Sen secured the third position after finishing a further stroke behind at 159.
Kaushal Bagrodia (Calcutta) was tied in the fourth place with city mate Kaustav Coomar after carding 160 while Jamshedpur's Sukhraj Singh managed to defeat overnight joint leader Sanu Das (163), who despite starting well ultimately came sixth at 162.
"I'm happy with my performance. I think I played well and concentrated on my strokes," said Aroush, a Class IX student of La Martiniere Calcutta.
Aroush also clinched the Category B title in which Kaushal and Anish Rajak came second and third, respectively, making it an all Calcutta podium.
Overnight leader in Category C Guhrmehr Bindra (Calcutta), put forward his best performance registering a massive eight stroke lead with a gross total of 161. Garv Lakhmani and Rakshik Basu of Calcutta came second and third, scoring 169 and 171, respectively.
Category D turned out to be a thrilling affair as Rishi Biswas of Calcutta and city mate Anshul Mishra gave each other a tough competition with Rishi emerging the winner by a solitary stroke. He carded a two-day total of 176 over halfway leader Anshul's 177. Aditya Khaitan was seven strokes behind and came third.
Prashant Agarwal of Calcutta secured the top position in Category E as he shot a second round 42 and a gross total of 86. City mate Aashrut Almal came second at 94, while local talents Manan Adesara, L Sai Sumati and Sehej Virdi finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
