If all goes well, Bokaro steel city station, the highest revenue grosser of Adra railway division, will become a model junction boasting a logistics park, a heritage steam engine, adequate parking space and other passenger amenities.

The Adra railway division has sent a proposal to the Railway Board last week and is now awaiting a green signal.

Speaking to The Telegraph about the proposal, senior divisional commercial manager (DCM) of Adra railway division Shri Bhaskar said that the station would undergo a major makeover once the plan got a go-ahead.

"As part of the facelift plan, a heritage steam engine will be placed around the entrance of the station. Water vending machines will be also installed at platforms 1 and 2, for which a proposal to IRTC has been sent. Another passenger lounge will be added to the existing one just outside the station. There will be parking space too," he said.

Earlier, the Railway Board had asked South Eastern Railway (SER) to convene a review meeting and send names of two stations from Adra and Ranchi divisions for setting up of multi-modal logistics parks (MMLP), keeping in mind availability of land and industrial development of the zone. The names of Bokaro station and Hatia junction were proposed by the Adra and Ranchi divisions, respectively, for the logistics parks, which will aid in better freight management.

Senior DCM Bhaskar said the name of Bokaro, an A-category station, was proposed in view of growing industrial activities in and around Bokaro steel city.
