Spurious drink conviction
• NEW DELHI: A Delhi court has refused to set aside the conviction of a man accused of manufacturing and selling spurious soft drinks using brand names such as Pepsi and Limca in 2001. The court, however, modified the one-year jail term awarded to the man by a magisterial court in 2015 to 14 days considering the period he had spent behind bars since the onset of a trial in 2001. The order came on the appeal filed by convict Sant Ram. PTI
Tirupati darshan
• TIRUPATI: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams that administers the Lord Venkateswara shrine on Monday began a trial run of a darshan system to provide respite to devotees standing in queue for hours. Under the "time slotted sarva darshan" system, devotees will get a computerised access card which will mention the time at which they can have darshan of the deity through a special entry within the complex. Tilak film fund
• NEW DELHI: A chargesheet was filed in court after a CBI probe into alleged financial irregularities in the making of a government-sanctioned film on Bal Gangadhar Tilak. The culture ministry had sanctioned the production of the film in 2000-2001 at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore, culture minister Mahesh Sharma said in the Lok Sabha on Monday. The file relating to the sanction was untraceable. The matter had been reported to police, he said. PTI

• MEERUT: Two men died after they slipped into a water tank while trying to click selfies from the top of the reservoir in Meerut on Sunday, police said. Shosit Singh and Rishabh Sharma, both in their 20s, were doing a course in animation. PTI
Ganja detention
• NEW DELHI: A Delhi court has awarded two persons a rigorous jail term of 10 years each for possessing 126kg of ganja. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on each of the convicts. PTI
Liquor arrest
• GHAZIPUR: Police have arrested one person and seized two vehicles for stocking illegal liquor in a private school in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur district. The police raided the school where the liquor was stocked for transportation to Bihar. PTI
