Calcutta, Nov 23 (PTI) : West Bengal's transport minister Madan Mitra has said he will be ready to face the Central Bureau of Investigation in a few days to answer questions relating to the Saradha scam.
The CBI had asked him to appear before it last week but Mitra had checked into a private hospital and later a government one to undergo a battery of tests.
'I am ill but within the next few days I will face the CBI for questioning as they have summoned me,” Mitra told PTI on Sunday.
'I am in no way involved in the Saradha scam,” Mitra said when asked about allegations levelled by the opposition that he took benefits from Saradha group chairman Sudipto Sen.
Mitra also denied reports of his son being involved with a particular chit fund company and said if reports of his son or any of his family member taking any benefit from a chit fund company was proved, he would tender his resignation as a minister.
Trinamul Congress Rajya Sabha member Srinjoy Bose was arrested on Friday by CBI after a marathon interrogation for five hours for his alleged involvement in the Saradha ponzi scam.
