Toilet circular

Raipur, May 25 (PTI): The BJP-ruled Chhattisgarh government has made it mandatory for its employees in rural areas to have toilets at their houses to spread awareness about hygiene.

A circular, issued by the chief secretary, said "under the Clean India Campaign, it is compulsory for government officials/employees posted in rural areas to build toilets in their homes and use the same".

Art law tweak

New Delhi (PTI): The Centre, in a bid to stop art smuggling, has decided to amend an act and make India an "open market" for antiquities trade. The Antiquities and Art Treasures Act, 1772, in its present form, bars any person, other than the government or an authorised agency, from exporting antiques.

Sky lanterns

Mumbai (PTI): Some unidentified parachute-like objects, spotted over the Mumbai airspace on Saturday, were not motorised and police suspect they were Chinese lanterns. The objects were spotted by a Jet Airways pilot. "Their landing spot is still a mystery to us," the additional chief secretary said. A report is expected in two days.

DD channel

New Delhi (PTI): Doordarshan's farmer-centric channel, DD Kisan, will be launched by Narendra Modi on Tuesday. The Centre has made it mandatory for cable and direct-to-home (DTH) operators to provide the channel to subscribers.

River takes 2

Dehradun (PTI): A man, who had come to perform the last rites of his father at the convergence of Mandakini and Alaknanda in Rudraprayag, and his nephew were swept away by strong currents on Sunday. A search operation has failed to trace Vinod Kumar, 35, and Raja, 18.

Chautala trial

New Delhi (PTI): A Delhi court has directed the CBI director to consider the plea of a Congress MLA in Haryana, who is a prosecution witness in an assets case against INLD leader Abhay Chautala, seeking adequate security for himself and his family. Karan Singh Dalal has alleged threats from the accused.
