Requesting anonymity, the civic official said the doctor was in isolation and was asymptomatic.

The other person, a South African national who flew out of India without informing the authorities, has been booked by police. The South African, of Gujarati origin, had been quarantined in the Karnataka capital but later flew to Dubai.

The police have registered a case against the South African national for flying out without informing the authorities, in violation of quarantine norms.

The management and staff of the five-star hotel where he had put up have also been booked for allowing the infected person to leave without informing health officials.

They have been booked under various sections of the IPC and the Karnataka Epidemic Diseases Act, 2020, police sources said.
