 Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar school celebrated Vasant Panchami on Wednesday. Goddess Saraswati was placed in a pandal designed in the mould of ancient Shyam Rai Mandir of Bishnupur using recycled newspaper with details replicating the ancient terracotta sculptures of historic Bengal. The Dalmadal Cannon, also made of cardboard, was replicated at the entrance. Students, teachers and guardians were present to offer prayers to the goddess

The theme for the puja was sustainability, with biodegradable and organic materials being used for the decoration including betel leaves, hay, cotton fabric etc. Principal Raja Sadhukhan, participated to serve lunch personally to all on this auspicious day
