Yash Chopra's wife and playback singer Pamela Chopra passes away at 74

She has sung for several hit films, including Kabhie Kabhie, Noorie, Kaala Patthar, Silsila, Chandni and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge

Late filmmaker Yash Chopra’s wife and former playback singer Pamela Chopra passed away on Thursday in Mumbai at the age of 74. She was cremated in Mumbai at 11 am, Yash Raj Films said in a social media post.

As per reports, she passed away due to age-related illnesses after undergoing treatment in Mumbai’s Lilavati hospital for the past 15 days.

“With heavy hearts, the Chopra family would like to inform that Pamela Chopra, 74, passed away this morning. Her cremation took place at 11am in Mumbai. We are grateful for your prayers and the family would like to request for privacy in this moment of deep sadness and reflection,” Yash Raj Films said in a statement.

Pamela was also a film producer and writer. She has lent her voice to songs for several hit films, including Kabhie Kabhie, Noorie, Kaala Patthar, Silsila, Chandni, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Mujhse Dosti Karoge!. She has also been credited as the writer for Kabhie Kabhie and a costume designer for films like Silsila, both of which were directed by her husband Yash Chopra.

She married Yash Chopra in 1970 and they have two sons together — Aditya Chopra and Uday Chopra.

Pamela was last seen in Netflix’s documentary series The Romantics in which she gave several interviews to chronicle the journey of Yash Chopra and their Yash Raj Films over the years.
